Summary: According to a report, the Safety Korea website has certified two batteries made for the Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic. When the news outlet cross-checked the model number of a battery associated with the Galaxy Watch 8 on the TUV Rheinland website, it suggested a slight improvement over the predecessor. A 435mAh battery is expected, compared to a 425mAh battery in the current-gen watch.
Samsung launched the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra at last year’s July Unpacked event. Now, it seems the South Korean tech giant is getting ready for the launch of the Galaxy Watch 8 series, which includes the Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic. More recently, the model numbers of the Galaxy Watch 8 were spotted in a test firmware leak. Now, a leak suggests that the Galaxy Watch 8’s battery will see a marginal improvement over its predecessor.
Samsung could boost the battery capacity of the Galaxy Watch 8 by a small margin
Folks over at XpertPick first spotted two certified Samsung battery packs on the Safety Korea website. The model numbers of both units are reportedly EB-BL330ABY and EB-BL505ABY. These are reportedly the respective batteries for the Galaxy Watch 8 (SM-L330 variant) and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic (SM-L505 variant).
Although the Safety Korea site didn’t reveal much information other than the model numbers of batteries, when the outlet cross-checked one of the model numbers (EB-BL330ABY) on the TUV Rheinland certification site, it hinted at the Galaxy Watch 8’s battery improvement.
Per the TUV Rheinland listing, the battery with model number EB-BL330ABY has a typical battery capacity of 435mAh. Do note that it’s the battery’s model number associated with the Galaxy Watch 8. So, it’s safe to assume that it will have a slightly bigger battery than the predecessor. For those unaware, the Galaxy Watch 7 launched with a battery capacity of 425mAh last year.
A different Samsung battery was also seen last month
Last month, India’s BIS certification website certified a battery with model number EB-BL320ABY. While that listing didn’t spill any details, the outlet hints it will likely have lower battery capacity than 435mAh. We are expecting Samsung’s wearables to launch sometime in July this year. Again, there’s no official word on the launch just yet.
