DXOMARK’s Xiaomi 15 Ultra Camera Score Is Well Above Expectations

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra was announced a couple of days ago at MWC 2025. The phone arrived alongside its compact sibling, the Xiaomi 15, and it managed to attract a lot of attention, mainly because of its cameras. Well, DXOMARK tested the Xiaomi 15 Ultra’s cameras, and they ranked below expectations.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra cameras did not manage to impress folks over at DXOMARK

The phone managed to grab 13th place on the company’s global camera rankings, with a camera score of 153. It actually shares that spot with the likes of Google Pixel 8 Pro and OPPO Find X6 Pro. The first is almost a year and a half old, while the second is two years old at this point.

As a reminder, the Galaxy S25 Ultra fared even worse. A couple of days ago, DXOMARK published its score for Samsung’s most powerful device, and it ended up in the 24th spot on the company’s camera rankings.

The Huawei Pura 70 Ultra still holds the number 1 spot on DXOMARK, flying above the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL and HONOR Magic6 Pro, two phones that share the second place. DXOMARK did not review all camera phones, though, of course, so keep that in mind. The Vivo X200 Pro, for example, is not on there, and it’s regarded to be one of the best, if not the best.

DXOMARK highlighted some upsides of the camera performance

With that being said, DXOMARK praised the Xiaomi 15 Ultra’s high texture levels and low noise in photos. The same goes for accurate exposure and wide dynamic range in photos and videos. The phone also offers accurate color rendering and pleasant white balance in bright light photos and videos.

High levels of detail across all zoom settings is also listed as a plus for the phone, and the same goes for fairly low noise in bright light video.

There were quite a few ‘Cons’ listed as well

DXOMARK did list quite a few ‘Cons’ as well. Occasional warm color casts in photo and video is one of them. The phone also produces limited depth of field results in blurred background faces in group shots, the company says.

It also has occasional contrast issues on scenes with strong backlighting. Artifacts, including ghosting and flare are also an issue, it seems. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra also exhibits loss of texture in some shots, especially in low light.

DXOMARK also listed occasional autofocus stepping as a problem, and the same goes for less effective video stabilization than some competitors.
