An even better version of an already great smartphone.
The HONOR Magic7 RSR Porsche Design is one of two Magic7 series smartphones we’ve decided to award at MWC 2025. This is also a smartphone that technically launched before MWC, but it was very popular at the trade show and is definitely deserving of this award. Our HONOR Magic7 RSR Porsche Design review has been out for a while, in case you need an in-depth analysis of the phone. This is basically a Magic7 with an altered design and several other improvements. So, a great phone got a slight boost with this model.
Sporty design & mind-boggling RAM count
From the front, the HONOR Magic7 RSR Porsche Design looks the same as the HONOR Magic7 Pro. It is even the same size as that handset. The thing is, the backplate has been changed. The phone still uses the quad micro-curved design philosophy and has a very similar in-hand feel, but it looks different. It has a different-looking, octagonal camera island on the back, and that line across the back gradually protrudes more and more. It makes for a nice change compared to the Magic7 Pro, though both of them offer great in-hand feel. This model is also slightly heavier.
This phone was made in collaboration with Porsche Design, which explains the colors and some design details on the back. It is not a sports car just by name, not at all. These design hints do point in that direction, while the phone is also a sports car under the hood. It uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, just like the HONOR Magic7 Pro, but it has more RAM at 24GB, which is just mind-boggling for a smartphone.
Top-of-the-line specifications
Unlike the HONOR Magic7 Pro, the RSR model does not come with a smaller battery in Europe. It includes a 5,850mAh battery, just like every other model out there. That’s a huge battery, needless to say, and yes, it’s a silicon carbon battery. You’re still getting blazing-fast wired and wireless charging here. 100W wired charging is backed by 80W wireless charging, which feels unreal when you use it. We did that during our time with the phone, thanks to HONOR’s wireless charging stand, and it was… great.
The HONOR Magic7 RSR Porsche Design has great 3D facial scanning. It can recognize your face with ease, regardless of the lighting conditions. That ultrasonic fingerprint scanner under the display is also both fast and accurate, so you have options. The cameras are very capable. HONOR used large sensors and incorporated quite a bit of AI to make things work well. The periscope telephoto camera even received an upgrade over the company’s mainstream flagship HONOR Magic7 Pro model. All in all, this is a great special edition handset, without a doubt.
