ASUS introduced its new ROG Phone 9 series of gaming smartphones late last year. The lineup includes the ROG Phone 9, ROG Phone 9 Pro, and ROG Phone 9 Pro Edition. The company started selling the devices in the US after exhibiting them at this year’s CES. There have been reports about an affordable model in the series since last year. The alleged ASUS ROG Phone 9 FE has received certification in a couple of countries.
ASUS ROG Phone 9 FE is in the works and could launch very soon
ASUS is reportedly working on a ROG Phone 9 FE variant. The device could launch with less powerful features than the original ROG Phone 9 series as a “Fan Edition” offering. Malaysia’s SIRM and Thailand’s NBTC recently certified the upcoming phone. Earlier, the same phone was certified by GSMA. It’s worth mentioning that both the certifications mention the name ASUS ROG Phone 9 FE.
Furthermore, the certifications suggest that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor could power the ASUS ROG Phone 9 FE, just like the ROG Phone 8. In comparison, the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset powers the ROG Phone 9’s regular variant. The use of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC on the ROG Phone 9 FE model makes sense as it will be a more affordable offering.
It could borrow some of the design elements from the flagship models
It’s possible that the ROG Phone 9 FE could offer some of the design features of the flagship variants. Hopefully, we can expect it to offer the AirTrigger button. It could also offer support for the AeroActive cooling accessories and a cooling system with advanced heat dissipation.
It is possible that the ROG Phone 9 FE offers some of the design features of the flagship variants. Hopefully, it will keep the AirTrigger button and support for the AeroActive cooling accessories. A powerful native cooling system with advanced heat dissipation capabilities could also be there.
The regular ROG Phone 9 model has a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display. It offers a refresh rate of 185Hz and support for HDR10 content. We can also expect the ROG Phone 9 FE to have similar display features. The company hasn’t yet revealed any features of the FE phone, but we expect the rumor mill to spill some beans regarding the same soon, so stay tuned.
