Apple fans, brace yourselves; 2025 is going to be an exciting year for you. The Cupertino-based tech giant is reportedly planning to unveil around twenty new devices throughout the year. If you were to ask which will be the most significant Apple product coming in 2025, the iPhone SE 4 would surely cross your mind. Surprisingly, it’s not, as Apple’s most significant product for 2025 will reportedly be a smart home speaker.
The upcoming smart home speaker could be Apple’s most significant release of 2025
As usual, the news comes via popular Apple insider Mark Gurman, who believes that Apple plans to enter a new product segment with the rumored smart home speaker. In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman shared a few details about the upcoming device.
The new smart home speaker will reportedly feature a roughly 7-inch iPad-style screen mounted to a HomePod. What’s interesting is that the device will act as a smart home hub, enabling users to control their appliances. The device is also likely to include FaceTime and handle other tasks.
It would also run on a new OS and enable users to access AI-powered apps via Apple Intelligence and Siri. That’s not all; there could be a higher-end version with a robotic limb that might launch in a few years. Moreover, there’s no information about the price of the rumored device.
Previous claims by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo
The latest report from Mark Gurman is in line with the claims made by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Previously, Kuo hinted that the A18 processor could power the rumored smart home speaker. In fact, he also mentioned the names of two suppliers with whom Apple would collaborate to mass-produce the new smart home speaker.
Kuo also expects the initial shipment to be around 500,000 units in the second half of 2025. If Apple plans to go ahead with this product, as it seems likely, it will be a giant stride forward in the smart home segment. Therefore, the upcoming device would be competing directly with the likes of the Amazon Echo Show 10.
