Sony Is Launching A Beta Program For Testing PS5 Games And Features

Contents
Today, Sony announced a new beta program that it’s officially calling Beta Program for PlayStation, and it’ll let those who participate test out new PS5 games. The beta program also incorporates opportunities to test out new PS5 console features, as well as new features and updates headed to the PlayStation app and PlayStation website.
Past betas that Sony has held were mostly for the PS5, and these would allow you to test out new PS5 software features. These would usually be features rolled out to everyone in the months that followed. For example, it launched a beta software update that added SSD expansion a few months before it was available to the general public. It did the same thing with its rollout of Discord chat on PS5.
The new beta program will still incorporate those software betas but also add a few other opportunities. Plus, Sony says this new beta program is easier to register for. In addition, it should be easier for Sony to target interested users with what they want to test most. All thanks to its short and sweet set of questions that it asks you before submitting.
You can register for Beta Program for PlayStation right now
If you’re interested in being a part of this beta program, you can register your interest right now through Sony’s official PlayStation website. You’ll have to accept some terms, and then Sony will ask you a short set of questions. These are to gauge your interest in what you want to test. You’ll need to let Sony know what your favorite types of games are. As well as what you prefer for play modes, like Single Player or PvP. Sony also asks if you play mostly on PS5, PC, or both.
Once you finish up selecting all your answers, hitting continue should register you. A word to the wise, though, you may have some trouble with it. I went through the registry process myself a few times because it kept telling me something went wrong.
If you complete the registration successfully, you should see a message like the one in the image below. You’ll also get an email notification welcoming you to the beta program.
You’ll need a valid PlayStation account in good standing
This should be obvious, but Sony requires that you have a valid PlayStation account to participate. That account will also need to be in good standing. Sony says that accounts “with violations or restrictions may not be eligible.” Basically, if you’re not a menace online, you’re more likely to be considered.
You also need to live in a region where the Beta Program for PlayStation is available. Additionally, you have to be of legal age to participate. This is based on the age requirements for your region. If you meet all those requirements, click the link above to sign up.
