HONOR Alpha Plan Worth $10 Billion Has Been Announced At MWC 2025
HONOR teased the so-called ‘HONOR Alpha Plan’ prior to MWC 2025 in Barcelona, and the company just announced it. It is basically a vision for AI device future by the company’s new CEO.
The ‘HONOR Alpha Plan’ has been announced and comes with a massive investment
The company says that this announcement “marks HONOR’s shift from a smartphone manufacturer to an AI Device Ecosystem company.” HONOR will invest $10 billion over the course of 5 years.
The company says that at the very core of this plan is a “renewed focus on open collaboration”, as the company plans to work closely with industry leaders such as Google and Qualcomm. HONOR wants to leverage all that in order to “co-create the future of AI-powered devices.”
There are two phases of this plan that HONOR laid out for us. The phase one is called ‘Building an Intelligent Phone’. This will be conducted in partnership with Google and Qualcomm. HONOR plans to announce its first AI-driven phone.
The second phase is called ‘Co-Creating an Intelligent Ecosystem’. HONOR basically plans to offer seamless AI-powered collaboration across different systems. A part of this is the introduction of AI Connect, or as the company calls it the “world’s first all-ecosystem file-sharing technology”. This will enable ultra-fast transfers between iOS and Android.
The company used a tree analogy to explain things
HONOR also talked about something that it refers to as ‘HONOR Alpha Plan Tree Analogy’. That basically explains the different parts of this equation. HONOR sees Google, Qualcomm and other partners as ‘Roots’ to this fictional tree. HONOR acts as the ‘connector’ and is thus the ‘Trunk’ of this tree, while ‘Leaves’ are AI-powered apps and services that are supposed to enhance user experience.
The company has been talking about AI for a long time now. We’ve also seen a number of AI features provided in the company’s devices. Well, HONOR seemingly wants to take things to a whole new level with this massive investment.
