TECNO Spark Slim Is Looking To Compete With Galaxy S25 Edge

Do you remember at some point in time, smartphone makers were obsessed with trying to get their phones to be as thin as possible? That trend quickly died out after there were reports of phones bending in pockets. But now, companies are looking to revive the thin trend again, and TECNO is tossing its hat in the ring with the Spark Slim.
The TECNO Spark Slim concept
First of all, you should know that the TECNO Spark Slim is currently only a concept phone. TECNO has not mentioned if they plan to mass-produce it, but there is a chance the company might have some demo or prototype units to show at MWC 2025.
So, how thin is the TECNO Spark Slim? According to the company, the phone measures an incredible 5.75mm thin. That’s pretty amazing, although to be fair, companies like OPPO have managed to create thinner phones, like the OPPO R5, which measures 4.85mm thin. Or if you’re looking for a modern equivalent, the OPPO Find N5, which when unfolded, is 4.2mm thin.
According to TECNO, other specs of the Spark Slim include a 6.78-inch 3D curved AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. It even boasts peak brightness of 4,500 nits. Despite it being so thin, TECNO has managed to squeeze a 5,200mAh battery with support for 45W charging. It also includes a dual 50MP rear-camera setup and a 13MP selfie cam to top it off.
Like we said, the company doesn’t mention if there are plans to actually sell the device, but hopefully, we’ll learn more at MWC next week.
Other slim competitors
TECNO isn’t the only smartphone maker trying to chase that slim dream. For some reason, 2025 could be the year of the ultra-thin phones. As some of you have heard, Samsung is planning on launching another Galaxy S25 variant called the Galaxy S25 Edge. The handset is expected to be a slimmer version of the Galaxy S25. Last we heard, it could be announced in April.
Even Apple is getting on hopping on board the train. This year, the Cupertino company will launch its new iPhone 17 series. It will also introduce a brand new model called the iPhone 17 Air, whose selling point is its slimness. We’re not sure what sparked the race to make the thinnest phone again. But hopefully, these companies have learned from the mistakes of the past.
