Is A First Gen Pixel Watch Still Worth It? You Can Get One For Just $90 Now

The Google Pixel Watch series has delivered increasingly better hardware every year, but even the first generation is still supported and, now, you can get one for as little as $90 – but should you?

Every Pixel Watch generation has started at $349, making the smartwatch far from an “impulse” purchase. But, as with any other piece of tech, that price drops and new models are released. With the launch of Pixel Watch 3 last year, Google dropped the price of Pixel Watch 2 to $249, making it a rather appealing offer.

Currently, though, you can step back one generation further and get an original Pixel Watch from 2022 for just $90.

That’s through an Amazon seller which is offering the original Pixel Watch with a variety of different watch bands for $89-$109, and that’s for an LTE model too. This is a third-party seller with good ratings, but the watch is delivered in “bulk packaging,” meaining that at the bare minimum, the product has been opened from its original box. Still, that’s a rather enticing price for a modern smartwatch, as the options you’ll find for that cost normally consist of smartwatches with limited app/watch face offerings, often inferior displays, and mixed experiences when it comes to how well they work with your phone.

But, in 2025, is it still worth buying an original Pixel Watch? It’s a tough call in my book.

On the one hand, the original Pixel Watch does have slightly better hardware – the heft of stainless steel is something I do somewhat miss. It’s also still fully supported on the software front, and offers a comparable experience for the most part as far as basic fitness tracking goes. But, on the other hand, newer models have much better battery life, faster charging, and improved sensors too.

As with many things, the answer here really comes down to “the right price.” I’d argue that a $90 “new” Pixel Watch will deliver a great price-to-performance/experience ratio, but I’m not sure it’d deliver better than a used or refurbished Pixel Watch 2, for example. Right now, Amazon sells “Renewed” Watch 2 units for as low as $95, and the improved battery life alone feels worth that swap even if you are giving up LTE in the process. You can also get a used Watch 2 shockingly easily for as low as $60, which also feels like a better use of that money.
