Galaxy S25 Edge May Sport A Thinner, But Bigger Vapor Chamber

The rumors claim that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge will be thin, which will require some major internal changes. According to a post on X by @PandaFlashPro, it seems that Samsung could opt to use a thinner vapor chamber for the Galaxy S25 Edge.
According to the post, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge will utilize a thinner vapor chamber. However, while it might be thinner, the tipster claims it will be bigger than the one used in the Galaxy S25. Some have questioned if this could result in worse heat dissipation than the other Galaxy S25 models.
That is a legitimate concern, but the bigger vapor chamber could mean that it covers a larger surface area. While it might be thinner, it is wider, which could offset the thinner design. We’ll have to wait for tests to see how well its thermals perform. So, for now, we’ll have to reserve our judgment.
It’s not surprising that Samsung could use a thinner vapor chamber in the Galaxy S25 Edge. The handset is rumored to be a thinner variant of the Galaxy S25 series. This implies that Samsung needs to compromise on certain features. Thermal control could be one of them.
According to an earlier rumor, the Galaxy S25 Edge is made in ceramic and aluminum. Ceramic is more durable than glass but is terrible at heat conductivity. Unless Samsung plans on using advanced ceramics like aluminum nitride, this could be a point of concern.
Other rumored specs
In addition to the potential use of a thinner vapor chamber, here’s what else we know about the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge so far. The handset will apparently be the same size as the Galaxy S25+. This means we can look forward to a 6.7-inch display. We’ve also heard that it could pack a 3,900mAh battery. This is another area Samsung is compromising on due to the phone’s slimness.
The Galaxy S25 Edge will also come with a dual camera setup. Last we heard, the main camera could be a 200MP shooter. We’ll have to wait and see what the other camera is. As for its chipset, it will most likely use the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite as the other Galaxy S25 models.
Note that there are two variants of the Snapdragon 8 Elite. The “regular” version has 8 cores, while the other variant has 7 cores. The 7-core version is designed with foldables in mind. On paper, it is less powerful. However, it also means that it might not run as hot. Samsung might use the 7-core variant to balance out the thermals on the Galaxy S25 Edge. However, a unit recently passed through GeekBench sporting the 8-core chip, although it could be a prototype.
