Apple Analyst Confirms A Foldable IPhone Is Coming In 2026

If you’re planning on getting an iPhone this year, at this point we’d suggest you hold off until 2026. Apple will refresh its iPhone lineup later this year with the iPhone 17 models. However, 2026 is probably a bigger year for the Cupertino company. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, he revealed in his Power On newsletter that the foldable iPhone is set for 2026 alongside a brand new iPhone design.
We’ve been hearing rumors that Apple is getting to hop on board the foldable smartphone bandwagon. Ever since Samsung first introduced the foldable phone, we’ve been waiting for Apple to launch somethin similar. The company’s plans have been “delayed” for years, or so the rumors claim.
However, recent reports, including Gurman’s newsletter, suggests that the foldable iPhone is close at hand and could arrive in 2026. The analyst claims that Apple is nearing the end of development of the device. This means that Apple could move onto the next step, such as manufacturing.
We’ll admit that we are excited to see how Apple will approach the foldable iPhone. Will the company enjoy the same success as its regular iPhones, or will it flop hard? According to the rumors, the foldable iPhone will feature a 5.49-inch cover display. This is considerably smaller than the competition. Its inner foldable display, however, measures 7.74-inches, which is decent.
New iPhone design incoming
According to recent leaks, the iPhone 17 lineup could feature brand new designs. The base iPhone 17 will look similar to its predecessor. But the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will sport brand new camera modules. Apple will also introduce a new iPhone 17 Air, a brand new model to its lineup, with a skinnier design.
However, Apple isn’t stopping there. According to Gurman’s report, Apple is reportedly working on another new iPhone design for 2026. “It’s readying a skinnier iPhone for later this year and focused on finishing up development of its first foldable device for 2026. There’s also another new iPhone design in the works for that year, I’m told.”
If that’s the case, it’s interesting. This is because it marks the first time Apple has introduced new designs back-to-back. Apple usually waits a couple of years before bringing forward a new design. The company does iterate its designs from iPhone generation to generation, but the major designs only happen once every few years.
Gurman does not mention what are these design changes, so we’ll have to wait until 2026 to get a better idea.
