Google Drive Now Lets You Access & Search Transcripts For Videos

Google has been quite consistent when it comes to updating its apps and services. Google Drive, being one of them, has received loads of features in the past few years. Speaking of features, Google Drive was updated last year with auto-generated captions for videos. Today, Google has announced that Drive users can access and search transcripts for their videos.

Google Drive users can now view and search transcripts for their videos

If you are willing to search for specific moments in a video, this new feature is a lifesaver. For the uninitiated, transcripts appear in a sidebar right next to the video player. The feature also highlights the currently spoken text as the video continues to play.

Google, in its announcement, says that this update enables Drive users to easily search specific moments from their video with the help of video transcripts. So, how to search for the moment in Google Drive? In order to access video transcripts, you have to first open a video from Drive that has captions.

Now, you should tap on the settings (gear) icon from the bottom right corner. That’s where you’ll find the video settings. Finally, you just have to select the “Transcript” option and you’re done. Here it’s important to note that the video must include captions for you to be able to see a transcript. If you want to ensure this, simply check if the video has a “CC” button at the bottom right corner is active.
