SCUF Embraces Hall Effect Joysticks In Its New Xbox Controller

SCUF recently unveiled its new Valor Pro controller, and it introduces some huge upgrades that we hope to see on SCUF’s future controllers too. The new Valor Pro controller from SCUF is designed for Xbox and PC, and since it’s wired it’s more or less limited to those two platforms. Unlike SCUF’s Instinct Pro which is wireless and can be used with Android and iOS devices, and handhelds like the Steam Deck and ROG Ally X.

That being said, the Valor Pro has one huge advantage over the Instinct Pro. It uses Hall Effect joysticks. This is a big, big improvement. If you’ve ever dealt with stick drift before, then you know how bad it can make your gaming experience. It only gets worse, too, if it happens to a controller like the ones from SCUF because these are by no means inexpensive. The Reflex FPS, for example, which is the one I use on my PS5 for FPS games, ended up with stick drift and that version of the controller is closer to $250.

If you end up in that position and the controller doesn’t have Hall Effect sticks, then you have two options. You can either repair it yourself, provided you know how, or you can get it repaired by a business. The SCUF Valor Pro does away with all that nonsense.

The SCUF Valor Pro controller is reasonably priced

Other than the Hall Effect joysticks, this might be the controller’s best asset. It starts at $99.99 which is more than half the price of SCUF’s wireless options. Not to mention it features most of the same types of features. This includes the ability for the controller to set different profiles so you can swap between them on a whim. You might not think you would use these much. However, they become infinitely more useful if you play a lot of different types of games.

The Valor Pro also comes with SCUF’s instant triggers. You can disable the instant trigger lock with a switch on the back. So they don’t have to be engaged all the time. Additionally, you have mappable controls on the back by the hand grips. These are the buttons on the controller that you want the different profiles for.

Dedicated audio controls make volume adjustment a breeze

One neat thing that SCUF seems to have added is the dedicated audio controls. These aren’t on the Instinct Pro. Which means if you want to adjust headset volume you need to put the controller down or take one of your hands off the controller buttons.

On the Valor Pro, you simply need to move your thumbs down to the dials below the d-pad. It’s a much quicker way to turn things up or down and more or less lets you stay in the game. The Valor Pro is already available and you can pick it up through Amazon and directly through SCUF.
