Google Store Stops Selling Chromecast With Google TV

The Chromecast with Google TV 4K and HD are no longer available for purchase in the Google Store.

As of Thursday afternoon in the US Google Store, “No longer available” appears in the product listing for the Chromecast with Google TV. The Smart Home > Streaming landing page only lists the Google TV Streamer.

Both the 2020 4K and 2022 HD models were still listed in some colors earlier this week. At $49.99 and $29.99, they were significantly cheaper than their intended replacement.

With the unveil of the Streamer in August, the company said the Chromecast would remain on sale until inventory runs out. There are no changes to product support and updates. We’re still waiting for the Android 14 update.

Officially, Google believes that people no longer want cheap streaming devices as even the most affordable televisions offer that basic functionality. The new streaming box marked an end to the brand.

You might still find them at third-party retailers, but inventory there is also running low. Best Buy currently lists the HD model for $14.99 in a clearance sale, but it’s no longer available offline.

Meanwhile, the Voice Remote for Chromecast with Google TV is currently not on sale, though there’s a “Get notified” option. You can buy the Google TV Streamer Voice Remote instead, but “Find My Remote and creating a shortcut with the customizable button only work with Google TV Streamer.”
