IPhone 17 Pro’s Design Changes Detailed In New Leak

Apple has gotten lazy with its iPhone design in the past few years. Each new generation looks like a slight reimagining of the previous generation, which is kind of disappointing. However, the iPhone 17 series could change that. A recent leak offers more details about the design changes that the iPhone 17 Pro could bring.

iPhone 17 Pro design details leaked

According to the post on X by @MajinBuOfficial, Apple’s next-generation iPhone, reportedly known internally as “253,” is currently in the EVT (Engineering Validation Test) phase. The main standout feature is a radical design departure in the form of the so-called Camera Tray. This is where the camera module seamlessly merges with the main iPhone 17 Pro body. This design choice creates a silhouette with a raised relief exceeding 2 mm.

Early prototypes showcased an all-silver finish in terms of colors. However, the Camera Tray could actually match the color of each device. Some test units reportedly feature an entirely black Camera Tray. Apple is also keeping the Camera Control button and a physical SIM card slot.

The report also states that Apple crafted the side frame from aluminum, giving it an opaque texture that resembles leather. This is a change from the use of titanium in previous models. Glass still covers the back to enable wireless charging support.

Other specs

The iPhone 17 Pro will reportedly feature a display of around 6 inches, keeping it in line with the previous model. What’s interesting is that the device could have a 5,200 mAh battery. If that’s true, it would be a massive increase. For reference, the iPhone 16 Pro features a battery around 3,600 mAh.

Apple is also using a new A19 chipset, but there are still no specific details about its performance improvements. So, the rumored better battery life and the new Camera Tray design are currently the most potentially disruptive changes to the iPhone 17 Pro. However, there is still a lot left to know.

Apple will announce its new iPhones later in the year. The company is rumored to replace the Plus model with a new, super-slim iPhone 17 Air.
