A well-known display analyst, Ross Young, has revealed the cover screen size of Samsung’s first tri-fold smartphone, and also the Galaxy Z Fold 7. You know what’s interesting? Those two smartphones will have the exact same size of a cover display.

Both of them will feature a 6.49-inch cover display, and the details could also be the same. That’s something that we don’t know yet, but at least their size is the exact same.

In case you’re wondering, yes, the company’s first tri-fold will feature two displays. It will utilize a different approach than Huawei. The Huawei Mate XT has a single display, and when fully folded, you’re using a part of that display.

Samsung’s first tri fold will have a separate 6.49-inch cover display, and when unfolded, it will use its main display. This kind of suggests that Samsung wants to protect the main display fully when the device is folded.

Its main display will likely measure 10 inches

The main display is expected to measure around 10 inches (9.96 inches, to be exact), though the exact size was not revealed just yet. Samsung’s tri-fold foldable will bend in an G-shape, not a Z-shape that Huawei utilized.

So, when will Samsung’s very first tri-fold smartphone arrive? Well, based on the latest information, it will launch at some point this year. It could even arrive around the same time as the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, if not at the same time. Those devices are coming in Q3 this year.

Regarding the phone’s specs, well, we still don’t have any specifics, other that the aforementioned display info. The device could be called the Galaxy G Fold, based on a report, but we’ll see.

Do note that the availability of this tri-fold handset will be quite limited. The company allegedly plans to manufacture less than 300,000 units of the device.
