Currently, Google’s Gemini, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, and Samsung’s Galaxy AI rank among the most powerful smartphone assistants powered by artificial intelligence. Apple Intelligence is also slowly catching up the rival AI assistants with the Cupertino tech giant consistently making improvements with every update. Many Apple users have welcomed the Apple Intelligence feature, but some have opted out of utilizing it. However, a bug in the latest iOS and macOS updates has re-enabled Apple Intelligence for some users, even if they’ve manually disabled it.
iOS 18.3.1 and macOS 15.3.1 updates have automatically re-enabled Apple Intelligence for some users
Several Apple users are reporting that a bug in the latest iOS 18.3.1, iPadOS, and macOS Sequoia 15.3.1 updates has re-enabled the Apple Intelligence feature on their devices, even if they’ve switched it off manually. After the update, the default setting turns on Apple Intelligence for the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro, M4 Pro Mac mini, and the M4 iPad Pro. All of these devices previously had the Apple Intelligence feature disabled in iOS/iPadOS 18.3 and macOS 15.3.
As of now, we know that it’s a bug in the latest version of iOS, iPadOS, and macOS Sequoia that’s causing this problem. However, it’s neither not clear what exactly is causing the unintended behavior nor how widespread the issue is. For those unaware, Apple Intelligence is an optional feature of iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. Apple devices should ask users whether or not they want to enable Apple Intelligence when updating to a newer version of macOS, iOS, or iPadOS.
Here’s how to enable or disable Apple Intelligence on your devices
It’s fairly easy to enable or disable Apple Intelligence on your iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks. On the iPhone and iPad, open the Settings app, followed by tapping Apple Intelligence & Siri and flip the Apple Intelligence toggle to on or off.
On Mac, go to the System Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri, and switch on or off Apple Intelligence’s toggle. We can expect Apple to fix this bug in the iOS and macOS in the upcoming update, so stay tuned to Android Headlines for regular updates.
