Xiaomi 15 Ultra Image Shows Leica-Inspired Dual-Tone Design

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra has just surfaced yet again, and this model has a Leica-inspired dual-tone design. That’s what came to mind the moment I saw this hands-on image.

If you check out the image below, you’ll see the phone itself. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra surfaced in a real-life image and videos before, but this is the first time we’re seeing this dual-tone design variant.

You’ll notice that that around 3/4 of its backplate is covered by vegan leather, while that 1/4 is occupied by glass. Black vegan leather is combined with silver glass and a camera ring, which hints at Leica inspiration.

Take the Leica SL2 Silver Edition for example, a camera shown below. This is not the only camera with this design, but it’s a great example. It combines black vegan leather with silver metal, it’s obvious where the inspiration came from.

Leica and Xiaomi have been partners for years, so this is not surprising

This is also not surprising as Xiaomi and Leica have been partners for years. The company’s high-end devices utilize Leica lenses, as will be the case with the Xiaomi 15 Ultra.

You’ll notice the Leica logo inside that large camera oreo on the back. Four cameras will sit on the inside, including a periscope telephoto camera which is located in the top-left corner.

The first camera in the second row will be the main sensor, it would seem. Xiaomi is tipped to utilize the Sony LYT-900 camera sensor, a 1-inch type sensor. The third camera will be a telephoto unit, while the fourth will be an ultrawide camera.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC will fuel the phone

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra will be fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Elite, and it will offer high-end specs across the board. A micro quad-curved design will be utilized here, while the frame will be flat on the sides.

This smartphone will arrive later this month. It will launch in both China and globally. The China launch is tipped for February 26, while the global launch will likely occur during MWC 2025, most likely. We’ll see.
