After removing the feature late last year, the latest Fitbit app updates have restored support for Google Cast for workout videos.
Workout videos in the Fitbit app are a helpful way to work on your fitness, but they’re best used when paired with Google Cast for viewing the workout on a TV. That’s why it was incredibly frustrating when, back in December 2024, the Fitbit app suddenly removed the ability to use Cast for workout videos.
Now, that functionality has been restored.
In the latest version of the Fitbit app, Google Cast functionality is restored. Workout videos will include a Cast icon in the top corner if there’s a compatible target on your network. We spotted the restoration in v4.35 of Fitbit for Android. On Fitbit’s forums, Google confirms that version is the one that should restore support, but you should check for updates if you’re still not seeing it.
As far as we can tell, nothing has changed in terms of functionality with Cast in the Fitbit app. Videos play, but there are no added stats or anything extra. It was reported a while back that Google TV would add deeper Fitbit integration, but there’s no sign of that yet, well over two years later.
