This Galaxy S25-Exclusive Feature Is No Longer Exclusive!
When Samsung unveiled the new Galaxy S25 series of phones, it announced some new AI features. Just like last year, some of its new features were just Google features that the company unveiled first. Google announced that Gemini Talk Live, a feature that debuted on the Galaxy S25, has landed on the Pixel 9.
To recap, Google is inching closer to delivering a true AI assistant for your phone. In order for it to do this, the company has to give Gemini a set of eyes. During Galaxy Unpacked, which happened on January 22nd, Samsung told us about the new Gemini Talk Live. This allows Gemini Live to actively see what’s on your phone’s screen and use your camera to gain context for what you need.
Gemini Live is already a powerful tool for looking up information, but it wasn’t much more when it launched. Now, it’s able to read files like Word documents, PDFs, images, and more. So, it can really come in handy as an assistant. However, Google acknowledges that it could go even further.
Gemini Talk Live is coming to the Pixel 9
Screen awareness is something that Google has been working on years before it even started on Gemini. Many of us remember a little something called Google Now On Tap. This tool attempted to have Android read what’s on your screen when you summon the tool. This took a step forward when the company gave you the ability to upload screenshots to Google Lens.
Fast-forward to more recently with Circle to Search, and we see that Google has been making some strides in the right direction. At this point, Gemini can already read what’s on your screen. When you summon the chatbot, you’ll see chips that allow you to open a chat session about what’s on your screen.
However, using Gemini Talk Live, users can have a conversation about what’s on their screen with Gemini Live. This way, users can have a more natural conversation. Not only that, but they’re able to interrupt Gemini.
Rolling out
Just like Circle to Search, Gemini Talk Live was initially exclusive to Samsung handsets. However, Google announced that the feature has now made it to the Pixel 9 phones. We knew that it was a matter of time before Pixel users would get this feature. It should be live for Pixel 9 phones using Gemini v1.0.686588308 and Google app v16.2.40.
Along with the Pixel 9, Gemini Talk Live is also making it to the Galaxy S24 series. There’s a chance that Galaxy S24 users aren’t seeing this feature just yet; however. If you don’t see it yet, you’ll want to hang tight.
