The Galaxy S25 Edge Could Have A Frankenstein-Esque Mixture Of Cameras From The S25 And S25 Ultra
The launch of the new Galaxy S25 series included the three classic models from the past few years. However, the company will add a fourth variant under the name Galaxy S25 Edge (formerly known as Galaxy S25 Slim) in the coming months. This device is quite interesting, as many of the leaks related to its design and some tech specs were fake. Now, a report claims that the Galaxy S25 Edge camera system will be a mix of sensors from the existing models.
Before Samsung teased the device, leaks claimed that it would hit the market with a rear triple camera setup. However, Samsung confirmed that the phone will only have two camera sensors. Also, the design of the camera island will be very different from the rest of the Galaxy S25 lineup. Interestingly, Samsung is bringing back the “Edge” moniker that it used on its first curved-screen smartphones, although the phone will actually have flat sides.
Samsung could implement a mix of the S25+ and S25 Ultra cameras on the Galaxy S25 Edge
Now, X/Twitter user PandaFlash claims that the smartphone will feature a dual-camera system consisting of a 200MP main sensor and a 12MP ultra-wide sensor. If the leak is true, the Galaxy S25 Edge will have a mix between the main camera of the more premium Galaxy S25 Ultra and the ultra-wide sensor of the vanilla and Plus S25 variants. Sadly, Samsung has ditched the telephoto sensor, so the device won’t have optical zoom capabilities. Users will have to make do with digital crops from the main camera.
It’s noteworthy that the user who shared the information has a shaky track record. So, you should take the leak with a pinch of salt pending further developments. However, we’ll likely see something like this when it hits the market.
Other recent leaks have shed more light on the Galaxy S25 Edge. The device is said to sport a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x display protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2. It could be powered by a tiny 4,000 mAh battery with support for 25W charging. Samsung is also said to pack a 7-core Snapdragon 8 Elite chip that consumes less power. These compromises could be necessary to achieve a thickness below 6.4 mm.
