Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series of smartphones is official and among the variety of improvements that are being introduced, new Galaxy AI features are at the heart of Samsung’s new phones in terms of helping these devices become even more useful to users.
Galaxy AI was first introduced with the Galaxy S24 series last year. Since then, Samsung has expanded it to other devices like the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, as well as the new Galaxy Buds 3 and Galaxy Buds 3 Pro. You can even find a few Galaxy AI-based features in the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra. With the Galaxy S25 series, however, Galaxy AI will be more advanced than ever.
Part of this advancement is due to newly added multimodal AI agents. According to Samsung, these will only be available on the Galaxy S25, but there’s always a chance we could see them expand to other devices. That being said, the Galaxy S25 is the vessel for which Samsung will carry out its AI vision. A vision that its devices can be true AI companions to their users. To that end, Galaxy AI in the Galaxy S25 delivers the company’s “most natural and context-aware mobile experiences ever created.”
Galaxy S25 brings new features that make it a true AI companion
When you think about AI in this day and age, the first thing that comes to mind is probably all the AI tools people are using to “create” content. AI expands well beyond that reach though, and is woven throughout the Galaxy S25 to make it a true AI companion. With One UI 7, all three new phones will be able to better understand the context of a user’s needs and preferences. Samsung says these personalized experiences “have privacy in mind at every turn.” So users can feel safe and trust that their privacy and sensitive information is secure.
Galaxy AI now better understands and interprets text, speech, images, and videos for more natural-feeling interactions. For example, let’s say you get a text message that includes an image invitation to a party or some other event. You could use Galaxy AI to analyze the image using the AI Select function. This would give you an action notification to add the event to your calendar.
The Galaxy S25 gains other new AI features too. Samsung says you can now use Galaxy AI to adjust the size of the font on the display. As well as search for specific photos in the gallery.
You can hold the side button to activate Gemini
Google’s Gemini AI can be instantly activated by pressing and holding the side button on the Galaxy S25. If you’ve yet to use this new AI tool, be sure to give it a go if you pick up one of Samsung’s new phones. Once activated, users can task Gemini with a number of things across apps. Such as finding a product and where to buy it. Samsung says these interactions are bolstered with Galaxy AI.
Features like Call Transcript and Summary can be used to transcribe calls. While the Writing Assist feature can be used for things like formatting notes where you can select text on-screen. The Galaxy S25 series phones also come with a new Now Brief feature that offers suggestions for things across apps and functions. You can also see these suggestions and access them through the Now Bar. Now Bar is available on the lock screen too. So it’s always instantly available the moment you pick up the phone.
Samsung’s Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra are available for pre-order starting today. The phones will officially launch on February 7.
