Apple Releases IOS 18.3 Beta 3 To Developers

Today, Apple released iOS 18.3 Beta 3 to developers, which should be the last developer beta before the iOS 18.3 update drops for everyone later this month. However, there are still quite a few changes in iOS 18.3 Beta 3, than you might have expected.

The developer beta weighs in at about 755MB in size, however, the public beta has not yet rolled out. We expect to see that in the next few hours, or tomorrow at the latest.

Typically, the .3 update of a version of iOS is pretty small, compared to the .1 and .2 updates. Though, this year, that’s a bit of a different story, thanks to Apple Intelligence. There are some changes to the calculator app and settings app, as well as additional bugs being fixed in iOS 18.3. And on the Apple Intelligence side of things, Apple has made a few more changes, like halting the notification summaries for Apple News. This is probably a good idea, since we’ve seen many summaries just absolutely fail at summarizing the news.

Apple has paused Notification Summaries for News and Entertainment

The notification summaries have been paused for all apps that are in the News and Entertainment categories. It’s unclear why, but this is reportedly temporary and will be re-enabled in the future after Apple makes some changes.

Apple has also changed the wording for the setup of Notification Summaries, like “Summarization may change the meaning of the original headlines. Double-check important information.”

Macrumors has also found that in this beta, Apple has renamed the AE/AF toggle to Lock Focus and Exposure in the settings for Camera Control. Among a few other minor changes in iOS 18.3 Beta 3.

iOS 18.3 is reportedly set to rollout as a stable build before the end of January. So Apple has a couple of weeks before this update will be available to everyone.
