MSI Rumored To Be Working On A Ryzen Z2-Powered Claw Handheld

MSI has been pretty busy at CES 2025. The company announced a new lineup of QD-OLED gaming monitors, one of which comes with an eye-opening 500Hz refresh rate. We also saw the company’s new concept PC called the MSI Project Zero X. Now, a new rumor suggests that MSI could announce a new Ryzen Z2-powered Claw handheld.

A reliable tipster claims that MSI could bring a Ryzen Z2-powered Claw handheld

The fresh rumor comes via a popular AMD and MSI leaker, CodeCommando, who shared the details in his recent post on X (formerly Twitter). Not to mention, this information comes as a surprise for many because the company hasn’t used AMD’s chips in any of its handhelds yet.

Late last year, the company launched two new gaming handhelds, the MSI Claw 8 AI+ and the MSI Claw 7 AI+. Both handhelds pack Intel’s Lunar Lake chips under the hood. Since the tipster didn’t share any details about the models or the release timeframe, it’s safe to say that this could all be a rumor. However, there’s a possibility that this information may have slipped through the CES floor.

If you’re unaware, AMD also recently unveiled the next-gen Ryzen Z2 processors at CES 2025. We already know that Lenovo’s Legion Go S packs the Ryzen Z2 Go, with the Ryzen Z1 Extreme being another option. On the other hand, the prototype Legion Go 2 OLED will pack the Ryzen Z2 Extreme under the hood.

If the rumor turns out to be true, Lenovo’s latest offering may find a rival

Let’s just assume that MSI turns its head toward AMD. It would likely go with the powerful Ryzen Z2 Extreme for its next handheld if it plans to bring one. If that happens, the MSI next Claw will be neck-and-neck in terms of performance with the latest offering from Lenovo. All that said, there’s no official word in this regard. Therefore, we want you to take this information with a grain of salt.
