Trump Mobile Is Now A Thing — Because Why Not

Trump Mobile, a new prepaid wireless service launched by Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, offers a $47.75/month plan with 20GB of high-speed data, unlimited talk and text, and added perks like roadside assistance and telehealth. While pricier than competitors like Boost or Google Fi, it’s positioned as a values-driven alternative—with a Trump-branded smartphone, the T1 Phone, also teased for pre-order.

The other day, a trademark filing was discovered. The trademark was filed by DTTM Operations, a company that manages Trump’s trademarks. Based on the filings, it was speculated that it could relate to phones, and sure enough, it does, as Trump Mobile has officially launched.

Trump Mobile is a new wireless service

According to the press release, Trump Mobile is an effort spearheaded by Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump. The announcement was also made on the 10th anniversary of Donald Trump’s launch of his presidential campaign.

In a statement announcing the launch of the new service, Eric Trump said, “I’m incredibly excited to step into this new digital space, hard-working Americans deserve a wireless service that’s affordable, reflects their values, and delivers reliable quality they can count on. We’re especially proud to offer free long-distance calling to our military members and their families — because those serving overseas should always be able to stay connected to the people they love back home.”

What can customers expect?

Trump Mobile is a carrier service aimed at prepaid users. It is priced at $47.75 a month. So, the question is, what will you be getting with your money? For starters, you can look forward to unlimited talk and texting. There is also international calling and 20GB of “high speed” data for both cellular and hotspot. According to The Verge, a customer support rep says that this “high speed” internet is 5G.

It also mentions complete device protection, 24/7 roadside assistance through Drive America, telehealth services like virtual medical care and mental health support, and the ability to easily order and have prescription medications delivered. The press release says there are no contracts involved and no credit checks.

That being said, $47.75 isn’t exactly cheap or good value. For starters, other carriers, such as Verizon, offer unlimited 5G connectivity for $40 a month on their prepaid service. Other carriers offer similar value, along with smartwatch coverage. Smaller carriers such as Google Fi and Boost Mobile are even cheaper, at $35 and $25 a month, respectively, for 30GB of 5G data.

However, other features in Trump Mobile might be valuable to some users, such as roadside assistance. If you value those features, then maybe $47.75 is a good deal. Another thing to note is that the website reveals a listing for the T1 Phone. This is a Trump-branded smartphone, which is available for pre-order. However, details on the device are sparse at the moment.
