According to an Edison Research report from late last year, YouTube is the most frequently used service for listening to podcasts in the US.

Earlier this year, YouTube announced that it had surpassed one billion monthly podcast users, essentially cementing its spot as a big player in the podcast market. Elsewhere, early in the year, YouTube also made four big bets for 2025, with a focus on enhancing podcast discoverability being one of them. The streaming giant made progress towards the goal by introducing a dedicated ‘Podcasts’ sidebar shortcut to YouTube’s Android and Google TV apps.
Now, YouTube is doing more of the same with its new ‘Weekly Podcast Shows charts,’ but instead of helping listeners find smaller podcasters, it’s seemingly amplifying the biggest voices on the platform.

As explained by the streaming giant, the new ‘Weekly Podcast Shows chart’ highlights YouTube’s top 100 podcasts by watchtime, with the ranking being updated every Wednesday. Charts only include “playlists that are designated as ‘podcasts’,” and not “playlists that contain only clips or Shorts.” The week of May 5 – May 11, 2025 was dominated by Joe Rogan’s The Joe Rogan Experience, followed by Kill Tony in the second spot, and Rotten Mango in third.
