YouTube Adds Weekly Top Podcast Shows Chart, Teases ‘more Features’

With 1 billion monthly podcast users, YouTube now offers a Weekly Top Podcast Shows chart in the US.

charts.youtube.com/podcasts is a “weekly chart to showcase the most popular podcasts on YouTube.” Ranked by watchtime, it shows the top 100 shows in the US and updates every Wednesday. For example, the current list covers May 5-11, 2025.

YouTube notes how “charts will include playlists that are designated as ‘podcasts’ by the creator in the upload process, and will not include playlists that contain only clips or Shorts.” It is part of the broader YouTube Charts experience that covers music, including Trending, Music Videos, Songs, Artists, and Short Songs.

You can use it to see “which podcasts you’re really missing out on,” or “where your favorite podcasts rank.” Meanwhile, YouTube says the chart “recognizes and celebrates top podcasters who are redefining the next era of entertainment with engaging, influential, culture-defining shows across a variety of genres like News, Sports, Comedy, and True Crime.”

YouTube says it is “expanding podcast charts to additional regions.” More broadly, the Google service says it is “building out more features.”

And don’t forget that youtube.com/podcasts is home to even more podcasts to enjoy.

In terms of new capabilities, the last few months have been quiet for YouTube Music and Podcasts. That being said, people are still heavily using YouTube for podcasts without any further optimization than the features added in late 2023/early 2024. For example, Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend just started uploading full video episodes this week.
