Summary

  • The Samsung Galaxy S25 FE may feature a 12MP selfie camera, an upgrade from previous models, potentially boosting photo quality.
  • If the S25 FE gets the same selfie cam as the flagships, it could lead to better selfies and videos, especially with upgrades in One UI and hardware.
  • However, the S25 FE is supposedly sticking with the 50MP sensor from its predecessors.

Samsung’s Fan Edition phones have a reputation for giving you just enough power without the premium price tag. They’ve become the go-to pick for people who want flagship vibes without spending a fortune. And it’s no surprise that the Galaxy S25 FE is in the pipeline. While past FE models haven’t exactly shaken things up, a trusted source says we might finally see a nice camera upgrade this time around.

According to a fresh scoop from GalaxyClub, the Galaxy S25 FE might come with a 12MP selfie camera, likely the same one used across the whole Galaxy S25 lineup (via PhoneArena). That’s a bit of a shift from the Galaxy S24 FE and S23 FE, which both stuck with 10MP up front.

If the Galaxy S25 FE really ends up using the same selfie cam as the flagship models, we could be looking at a nice boost in photo and video quality. Nothing is confirmed just yet, but it’s hard to imagine Samsung backtracking to the old 10MP sensor. With expected upgrades in image processing from One UI and newer hardware, the S25 FE might finally bring some real heat to the front-facing game.

The 12MP sensor on the Galaxy S25 actually has smaller pixels than the 10MP camera on the S24 FE, so it might not grab as much light. But that trade-off could be worth it if it means sharper, more detailed selfies thanks to the extra resolution.

Don’t expect any big changes to the main camera

Sadly, if you were hoping for an upgrade to the main camera, it looks like you’ll be let down. According to the same report, Samsung plans to stick with the same 50MP sensor, keeping it in line with the S23 FE and S24 FE.

While the 50MP main camera on the S25 FE is the same as the one on the regular S25 and S25 Plus, the ultrawide and telephoto lenses fall short compared to the flagship versions. Of course, some cost-cutting is necessary to keep the FE affordable, but a little love for these extra lenses wouldn’t hurt.

Under the hood, the S25 FE is expected to run on Samsung’s Exynos 2400e chip, though word is it is testing MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 as a possible backup plan. As for when we’ll see it? All signs point to a late 2025 launch.
