Android Auto Is Now On Over 250 Million Cars

Google has confirmed that there are now over 250 million cars on the road with Android Auto support, up 50 million in roughly a year.

In May 2024, Google confirmed that Android Auto was available on over 200 million vehicles. That came a decade after the platform had debuted. About a year after that, Google now says that another 50 million cars have been added to that total.

Alongside its announcement of Gemini coming to Android Auto, Google says that there are “over 250 million cars” that support Android Auto. In addition to that, over 50 car models are using “Google built-in,” aka Android Automotive with Google services.

Google explains:

Today, there are over 250 million cars that support Android Auto, and more than 50 car models
with Google built-in on the road. Whichever experience you choose, we’re always bringing the
latest technology to make your drive more fun and productive. And the future of driving is getting
a whole lot smarter with Gemini, your AI assistant from Google, coming to your car soon.

Of course, this only means these cars support Android Auto. They’re compatible with it. Users may or may not be using the platform, and it stands to reason that all of these vehicles also support CarPlay.
