MediaTek has just announced yet another variant of its flagship Dimensity 9400 family. Today, the Dimensity 9400e Is official, and it features an All Big Core architecture. This includes four Cortex-X4 super cores with clock speeds up to 3.4GHz, and four Cortex-A720 big cores clocked at up to 2GHz. MediaTek says that this architecture allows the 9400e to meet the performance demands of multitasking and complex applications while also maintaining excellent energy efficiency.
Along with the 8-core CPU is a 12-core GPU in the Immortalis-G720. This is a 12-core GPU clocked at 1.3GHz. This is going to offer up some really impressive gaming capabilities for smartphone buyers. MediaTek says that it supports hardware-level mobile ray tracing technology and delivers outstanding performance and console-level global illumination effects.
WiFi 7 on a flagship, yet more efficient chipset
The Dimensity 9400e is a pretty interesting chipset from MediaTek. It’s a flagship chip, yet it is also far more efficient than the Dimensity 9400 and likely the 9400+ as well. It does support Sub-6GHz four-carrier aggregation with theoretical peak speeds of up to 7 Gbps, WiFi 7 tri-band connectivity, and multi-mode dual-SIM dual active functionality. So it has all of the connectivity you could want.
On the camera front, MediaTek has equipped the 9400e with an 18-bit RAW ISP, which supports AI semantic segmentation video engines that are capable of 16-layer image semantic segmentation. There is also support for high-dynamic noise reduction for recordings with three microphones. The Dimensity 9400e can also leverage advanced image and audio capture technologies, providing professional-grade video recording effects for smartphone photography enthusiasts.
The first smartphone with the MediaTek Dimensity 9400e is expected to launch this month.
