Honor Magic V5 Set To Bring Massive Battery Upgrade

The Magic V5 is Honor’s next entry into the foldable space. The Honor Magic V5 is likely to bring a similarly thin build to the market and reportedly have a huge battery improvement over the current edition.

Phones are getting thinner at a staggering pace. Samsung is about to launch the Galaxy S25 Edge coming in at 5.8mm. Still, Honor’s Magic V3 gives it a run for its money, coming in at only 9.2mm when folded. That’s an incredible 4.6mm, just barely enough to house a full USB-C port. Even still, it packs a pretty good battery with plenty of life.

It’s unclear if Honor is going to try to beat the record thickness, but reports indicate that the company is going to pack a 5,950mAh battery into the Honor Magic V5 (via GSMArena). The rating will be made up of two batteries, coming in at 2,070mAh and 3,880mAh. The typical capacity will likely be marketed at 6,000mAh.

At that size, it would be reasonable to expect that the phone will get over a day of usage, though it’s hard to judge foldables simply because use cases vary from user to user. Still, this rating means a jump of around 1,000mAh from the previous generation.

These MIIT and 3C ratings also note that the phone will charge at 66W when plugged in. This number is similar to the previous Magic V device launched in 2024.

While we used the Magic V3 during our review, the battery life felt fine from day to day. Apparently, that hasn’t been the case for a few users, and the lineup could do with some optimization. It could be possible that injecting more power into the foldable series could give it the boost it needs.

There is no information on when the Magic V5 will be released, but if history has anything to say about it, we could see the phone arrive sometime around IFA 2025.
