Samsung Is Pushing One UI 7 To The S22 Lineup Ahead Of Schedule

Summary
- Samsung’s One UI 7 stable update has been rolling out to numerous Galaxy devices since earlier this month, including the S24, S24 FE, S23 series, Z Flip 5, Z Fold 5, and Tab S10 series.
- The update recently expanded to older models such as the Galaxy Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4, and the Galaxy S22 series, notably arriving earlier than Samsung’s initial timeline for some devices.
- Currently, the One UI 7 update for the S22 series and older foldables appears limited to South Korea, with wider regional availability anticipated in the near future, while the S21 series and other models are expected to receive the update in the coming weeks and months.
Samsung’s long-delayed One UI 7 began rolling out in stable earlier this month, and it has since made its way to several Galaxy devices.
The latest S25 series, for reference, comes with One UI 7 preinstalled. 2024’s S24 series began receiving the update on April 10, and even though the update was halted due to a bug, the software rollout resumed soon after. One UI 7 subsequently made its way to the S24 FE and the S23 series, followed by the Galaxy Z Flip 5, Z Fold 5, and even the Tab S10 series.
Then, earlier today, the pivotal Android 15-based update began rolling out to older foldables like the Z Fold 4 and Flip 4, alongside the Galaxy S23 FE (Korea only). Now, in a show of impressive momentum, the update is now making its way to the 2022-released Galaxy S22 series, as highlighted by SammyGuru.
Now, the last S-series Samsung flagships still waiting for the One UI 7 update are the ones from 2021 — the Galaxy S21 series. However, judging by the way things are going, we wouldn’t be surprised if S21 users start receiving One UI 7 within the week.
Ahead of schedule all while being way behind

As of right now, the update seems to be limited to users in South Korea. If the past is any indication, the update should be available in other regions later this week or early next. The update is reportedly 4.4GB in size, and it carries the build version FYD9. The OTA update’s size may differ depending on your device and region. The update includes the April 2025 security patch with fixes for several high-level vulnerabilities.
For reference, according to Samsung’s own documentation, One UI 7 was expected to land on devices like Galaxy Z Fold 4, Z Flip 4, Z Flip 3, Galaxy S23 FE, and S22 series in May. The update’s early arrival means that Samsung is ahead of schedule, even if, in the grand scheme of things, it’s way behind schedule.
Devices like the S21 series, Galaxy A34, A35, A16, Quantum 5 and 4, Galaxy Tab S8 and S9 series should receive the major update in May, while users of Galaxy A53, A33, A25, A24, A15, Tab A9/A0+, Tab Active 5, and Tab S9 FE might have to wait until June.
