Galaxy Watch 8 ‘Classic’ Confirmed In Listing, Hopefully Bringing Back The Rotating Bezel

Samsung’s back-and-forth Galaxy Watch release schedule appears to be ready to bring back a Galaxy Watch 8 Classic later this year, a device that will hopefully include the company’s iconic rotating bezel.

The Galaxy Watch series was once designed around the idea of a rotating bezel to control the software, but the company started to do away with that with 2021’s Galaxy Watch 4 series. The following year’s Galaxy Watch 5 did away with it entirely, only for Watch 6 to revive it.

That cycle makes sense, as it gives Samsung a chance to appeal to another set of customers, but last year’s release introduced a question around the rotating bezel’s future. The introduction of a Galaxy Watch Ultra, separate from the company’s usual naming structure, cast a level of doubt on the future of the lineup. Thankfully, new findings have revealed that Samsung is bringing back the “Classic.”

Xpertpick spotted a Samsung listing at the Bluetooth SIG for SM-L505U, a device that is directly called the “Galaxy Watch 8 Classic” in the listing. The same model number first appeared late last year, but without a firm name attached to it.

It’s still unclear what this new smartwatch will bring to the table, though. The “Classic” moniker has come to refer to the rotating bezel, but it remains uncertain if the feature will live on, especially as the Galaxy Watch Ultra had the same style of physical bezel, but without the rotation.
