Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5

Summary

  • Samsung’s One UI 7 update roll out has been messy but is improving.
  • The update is now available for the Galaxy Z Fold5/Flip5, along with the S24 FE, S23, and Tab S10.
  • Sadly, these updates are only available to those in Korea for now.

Let’s be clear, Samsung’s One UI 7 update roll out has been an absolute mess. While it first debuted on the Galaxy S25 series, it took months to land on older devices, creating a lot of frustration among Samsung device owners. And while the company is still struggling to get it out to more phones, it’s doing a much better job, and there’s even a timeline available.

At the top of April, we saw the One UI 7 update hit US shores, and now we’re seeing it land on the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5. The news comes from Tarun Vats on X, and while we’d love to say it’s available in the US, this update looks to be only going out to those in Korea for now. Luckily, this isn’t a huge deal, as it indicates that the update should arrive to other regions soon.

Slow and steady

Samsung seems to be on a roll lately, with the brand just launching the One UI 7 update for the Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy S23, and Galaxy Tab S10 series. Again, this update is currently only available in Korea, but for the most part, it’s a good sign of things to come. Those in the region can head into the Settings menu, tap the Software update section, and Download and install to get started.

And if you’re a Samsung owner that’s patiently waiting for the update, there are some notable changes that are worth looking out for. Not only do you get a revamped look, but you also get some functional changes as well, like a new notification and Quick Settings panel that are now part of their own pull down menus.

As you might expect, there are also more areas of the OS that are infused with AI, like the enhanced Gallery Search. And perhaps the biggest update is the new Now Bar, which provides up-to-date information about the things you care about without having to unlock your phone. This feature is available on the lock screen, and it’s customizable.

Overall, this is a solid update, which makes it frustrating that Samsung’s roll out of One UI 7 has been so poor. Let’s hope it hits more devices soon.
