YouTube Music introduces lyrics-sharing feature to keep up with Spotify and Apple Music.
Users can customize lyrics share cards and post them on social media platforms.

YouTube Music is one of the most popular music streaming services — not just because it’s bundled with YouTube Premium, but also thanks to its excellent recommendations and the massive song catalog. That said, YouTube Music has been missing a few features compared to rivals like Spotify and Apple Music.
Google has been working to close that gap, and now the company has added a much-needed feature that brings it closer to the competitors.

According to a Reddit post (via 9to5Google), YouTube Music is finally gaining a lyrics-sharing feature. This feature has long been available on Apple Music and Spotify, but it’s just now arriving on YouTube Music.
The feature is straightforward: when you’re in the lyrics tab, you’ll see a new prominent Share button. Tapping it brings up a new window showing the song’s lyrics, where you can select the specific lines you want to share.
After selecting your lyrics, tapping Next takes you to a customization screen where you can change background colors and preview your share card. The preview shows the selected lyrics, along with the album artwork, song name, artist, and a small YouTube Music logo at the bottom.

Once you’re happy with how it looks, you’ll be able to hit the Share button to post the lyrics card directly to apps like Instagram, save it to your gallery, or send it through any other supported app. Apple Music and Spotify users have had this functionality for years, so it’s great to see YouTube Music finally catching up.
At the moment, the feature appears to be rolling out via a server-side update. The Reddit user who spotted it was using YouTube Music version 8.15.51 on Android. While I’m on the same version, I haven’t seen the feature on any of my devices yet, so it may take a little while to reach everyone. Hopefully, the wider rollout isn’t too far away.
