Following the Chromecast with Google TV going out of stock last month, Google is finally rolling out the Android 14 update.
This update was originally expected by the end of 2024. UTTC.241218.004 is a big 809 MB download that takes your Chromecast with Google TV from Android 12 to Android 14.
The release notes highlight how “The Google TV Streamer Voice Remote supports Find My Remote and Customizable Button,” which presumably means that those that have bought the standalone accessory now get to benefit from the two new hardware features.
The security patch goes from November 2024 to January 2025, while there are also “System Stability and Improvements.”
It remains to be seen whether this is the last big OS upgrade for the Chromecast with Google TV. It should still get smaller updates going forward as Google is still supporting the dongles despite the discontinuation. In 2024, Google released eight Chromecast with Google TV updates. We’re up to two in 2025.
On your Chromecast with Google TV, go to Settings > System > About > System update to get the Android 14 update.
