2 It’s hard to beat a midrange Pixel
Google’s Pixel 9a comes through
The Google Pixel 9a is right for all occasions. It’s currently the best all-around smartphone you can buy, and it’s hard to find significant flaws in the device for only $500. It features a gorgeous and compact 6.3-inch Actua display that’s vibrant and bright for outdoor viewing. The Tensor G4 is Google’s best chipset yet, providing snappy performance and limited overheating. I wouldn’t spend my days mobile gaming on the Pixel 9a, but it’s fantastic for everything else.

Google promises 7 years of software support and updates, meaning the dad in your life won’t have to replace it anytime soon. Of course, there are plenty of Pixel extras to enjoy, such as Now Playing, and Android 15 runs smoothly on the Pixel 9a. I’m not completely sold on its Gemini features, but AI still needs time to grow. The battery life is among the best I’ve tested this year, easily lasting through two days of use on a single charge from its 5,100mAh battery. Let’s not forget the camera. While it’s not as versatile as the triple camera setup on Google’s more expensive phones, it gets the job done, with fantastic nighttime photography for $500.

I like the Echo Show 8, which is an excellent build-your-own-adventure gift, allowing your dad to put it in any room he likes.
